I have been thinking long and hard about whether pets really do enjoy Halloween and have come to the conclusion that yes they do enjoy getting out with the family and just being with them on the night.

Depending on how old the dog is and how he can cope with people in various strange costumes coming over to him, and the noise around him constantly distracting him.

What I found is that if the dog is older they need to be watched more carefully as not only do they get scared by the “trick or treaters” yelling out the dogs response can be sometimes a reaction to bite or if not they could simply run off if they are a house dog and the doorbell is ringing continuously. An open door is inviting to them to escape.

Plenty of attention to your pet when you go out on Halloween, keep him on a short leash to keep him by your side and don’t forget to keep a few of his own biscuits to reward him for his good behaviour!
